Accommodating

In this episode we talk with Dr. Jill Saxon about the behavior of accommodating in the context of how adults behave around and for their anxious children.

For many parents of anxious children, engaging in preparation, planning, avoiding, and adjusting in hopes of preventing or fixing their child's feelings of distress may get in the way of a thriving family life. And can actually support the symptoms of anxiety as they increase in intensity and frequency and expand into new areas.

Dr. Saxon helps us learn to recognize, plan for, and supportively reduce those accommodating behaviors and instead support learning and development by teaching our children that they can handle those tough thoughts and feelings.
